Cookie Theater Presents: Star Wars Part 2!

Another part of Cookie Theater, as per request: part two of Star Wars. This time, I used the cookie theme "Lego Star Wars." (note the Lego hands and heads). Just a little note: Hans and Luke were the same cookie, Hans Solo has it written on his chest to tell the difference :)

ENJOY!

Star Wars: COOKIE THEATER!

In our last episode, Luke Skywalker discovered the power of the Jedi, and the Force. After rescuing the princess Leia, Luke, Han Solo, and the gang blow up the Deathstar, a giant weapon capable of blowing up planets. While fighting on the Deathstar, Luke discovers that Darth Vader, the evil dark Jedi, is his father (he did search his heart, he did know it to be true).

Now, having rescued Princess Leia from Jabba the Hutt, Luke and the gang must face off to save the galaxy...

Captured!

Forces invade... they rescue and thaw Han Solo.

Everyone now parties with the Ewoks! PARTY TIME~

Shoes!

Like most girls shoes are a little passion. It's strange, but when you see them on, and you see how they make your legs look or how they compliment an outfit, well, you just have to have them!

The shoes I made * here * were based off of some of my own shoes! I thought it would be fun to try to re-create them and see what they would look like :)

Silly shag rug that is on my couch :) The shoes are presented in style... if not in a silly way.

They may look plain, and not too colourful, but these two are my favourite. Not only are they comfie to wear, but they look pretty too!

Well, next plan is more Star Wars as per requests. This time, I'll be a little more entertaining for the Cookie Theater :)

Fail Cake... with love

One of my other projects for the end of the year celebrations was to make a cake for the K-Class, or special education kids. They are a fabulous group, and I was thrilled to make them a special treat.

The cake itself was designed by one of the kids: A multi-layered rainbow cake (4 rainbow layers) with a butterfly on top. The kids designed the cake (or rather, each designed a cake) in art class, and I decided to make the best one come true.

This is where things get tricky!

When your heart is in the right place, and you really want something to come out just right, you almost certainly will come up with troubles. That was this cake!

It seemed that everything went wrong all at once. The cake was floppy in the middle (Don't have any good pictures of that). I believe that my oven was cooking unevenly as well!

At that point, I should have just given up and made more cake, but it was late, so I soldiered on! Next.. HUMIDITY! It wrecked the icing. It was an awful mess. On the top and on the sides! I still kept rolling... But as you can see... this is very uneven.

The only thing I did liked was the butterflies. I made modeling chocolate butterflies, then hand-painted each. I was hoping for a smoother coat on the icing, but that too was not to be... still, they are pretty. Rather than do one like the original design, I made several so that the kids could share! They are yummie!

Honestly, this was the worst disaster I've made in A LONG TIME! but the children loved it. Which makes me happy. The girl who designed the cake recognized it right away, and figured that the layers were rainbow and got very excited! I guess even a fail cake can have a rainbow on the inside.

Lord of the Flies

Today was the last day of school for high school kids here in Fort. So, my class went out with a bang! I had treats all around. The first, for my Grade 10 English class - who has just completed the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding; I made Pigs head-cookies-on-a-Stick.

Some of the pigs had facial blood, but most just had the little bit at the bottom of the stick. I didn't want to freak the kids out. Strangely enough, the kids actually preferred more blood... I should have seen that coming!

Needless to say, they were a big hit. Who doesn't like cookies? As we munched on the LotF, we watched the movie - the 1960s version is so much better than that made in the 90s. Here's some of my fearless kids now, facing the beast...

Liz, Kimika, and Nathan! Thanks guys for helping me get something more than a cookie shot! Oh, the action! As for what I did for my other classes? Well, I'll be posing that soon!

Until then!

Purple Blueberries?

Thank you to all the well-wishers who had Willow and her family in their prayers. While things are rough, the wishes help.

While life gets back to normal, I'm baking to keep myself busy. Enter these wonderful berries from my freezer.

Walmart is a cheep place to get frozen fruit, and I have often wondered about the quality. However, it's not yet blueberry season in Fort, so I had to get them. I was initially amazed at what they did to my batter:

That's right, they are purple. My friend originally asked me if I had dyed the batter with some gel, but when I told her that the berries did it, we both had a good laugh. Honestly, I thought that it was at least a little more tinted than it otherwise should have been.

Cooked, they didn't look so bad. They lost that bright colour (ignore the browness which seemed to contrast the colour). They were delicious!

Big bite: sooo moist and soft! LOVED THEM. You can make them too!

Blueberry Muffins:
1 1/2 c Flour
3/4 c sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp Baking Powder
1/3 c vegetable oil
1 egg
1/3 c milk
1 c blueberries

1. Mix oil and sugar, salt, and egg.
2. mix flour and Baking Powder. Slowly add in Flour mix and Milk alternately.
3. Add blueberries. Mix until incorporated.
Bake @350 for 10-15 min.

Let cool and enjoy!

For some unknown reason I like to have my muffins (especially fruit ones) cold! I always stick at least one out-of-the-oven muffin in the fridge so that I can enjoy it quicker. Just like my apples... cold fruit is amazing! What do you think?

May Showers bring May Flowers...

This week has been a little bit of a ride for me. To keep myself distracted, I've been working on some spring sunshine. These cookies were one of my many projects. Mayflowers.

I made pink and purple flowers for a friend of mine. These cookies (made in her favorite colours) were to celebrate spring, rebirth, and the coming summer. They also seem to have come just as the Mayflies are coming out.

Hopefully, we'll see more blooming around here. It's been rather dark as of late.
